Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 3, 200817 yr Why has this never been in Invision without having to use a mod? Surely it's common sense to add a few options like limiting the amount of images someone can put in there signature, the size of the image, links to other sites etc. I've been requesting this since 2.0 and it's never happened but I suppose its worth a go again.

Why can't you post it in the IP.Board Support? You can login to your ACP -> TOOLS & SETTINGS -> look for User Profiles option -> Maximum length (in bytes) for user signatures Enjoy!

February 8, 200817 yr I also can't believe it as well. It's one of these basics that seems so obvious IPB never do anything about it. I know there are signature mods out there but I try not to use mods so that upgrades are much easier. All I want to do is prevent signature images while still allowing members to include a link to their homepage or to their gallery plus limit the number of lines that they take for their signature. My 2 cents. Nigel
February 8, 200817 yr It's hard determining limits for this. In terms of checking file dimensions/sizes, sometimes it's possible and sometimes it's not, and then you have to support those users where it won't work (usually allow_url_fopen disabled) and explain why, and so on. Still, I'm not against adding some sort of configurations for signatures.
March 29, 200816 yr phpbb3 has it and its free, why cant we have it here? dont get me wrong, there are a lot of great reasons why i always recommend IPB, but then there are some features that VB and phpBB has that could make IPB a complete community solution ... one of them is a feature rich image resizer, and im not talking about only signatures here!
