Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Yesterday at 02:04 PM
mmm2 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I've searched and searched for a forum program that REQUIRES guests to enter a username before their post is accepted. As it is now with EVERY forum program, if a guest forgets to enter a unique username, the forum automatically names them "Guest." As a result I have a bunch of posts by numerous people named "Guest" and it gets confusing.I found an old mod for IPB for this, but I doubt it works anymore.
WoLeRiNe` Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Ask your question here please;http://ipsbeyond.com/forumsIPB Official Support Forums ;)
mmm2 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I tried, but it won't register me because I'm not a client, yet. But I don't want to buy the program until I know the mod I need is available. :(
Rοb Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Not sure if the mod is available or not but even if it isn't it sounds like a tiny code-tweak which i am sure if requested over at IPSBeyond it could/would be made very quickly for you :)
Stuart Elliott Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Just enable the option that guest posting isn't allowed, thereby requiring everyone who wishes to post to register.
Rοb Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I have filed this as part of a bug report as having had a quick play to find a solution for you i discovered the guest posting feature has a couple of problems.
mmm2 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks, Rob! (w00t) (I won't be purchasing IPB until this is fixed or I know for sure a mod can be done).
