jucs
So, I look at the instructions. No special mention of having to run a command line tool at any point. Did I just miss this? I have 300,000 posts. I just don't want the upgrade to go south as upgrades have been becoming increasingly difficult with this software the further it gets developed.Thanks.If you're updating your IPB, then please do the following: Important note: If you are using a database driver OTHER than MySQL please be sure to download the files for your driver from your client area and upload those files along with the files in the next step. If you fail to do this, you will not receive the SQL updates you needUpload all the files contained in the "upload" folder of the download distribution. Don't forget to update files in the "resources" and "upgrades" folder.Run the upgrade system by accessing "upgrade/index.php" on your system (for example: www.domain.com/forum/upgrade/index.php) this will determine which upgrade modules need to be run and will rebuild your templates for you.Your upgrade is now complete! AndyF
You could get IPS to upgrade your board for you if in doubt :)I think there are command line tools available to prevent things timing out with large databases.
bfarber
You aren't required to, however it is provided for those with larger sites. You do need to rebuild your posts after upgrading to 2.3, due to parser changes made since the last version.
