Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Digi Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I know the warning system could really use an overhaul, but let's think baby steps here :PI'd like to see a small expansion to the current waning system that allows administrators and moderators to post a comment to a user's "rap sheet" that doesn't cause the warning to increase/decrease in any way. Mainly to track minor offenses or "first warning" type things. At IPSBeyond we have to have a separate forum specifically for this purpose, though not used often :P This would remove that need for our site and, probably, the many others that have these extra forums as well :)Blame this guy for making me think of posting this
.John. Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Another idea would be auto-punishment. Settings in the ACP would say when warning level reaches 20% do nothing, when warning level reaches 40% disable posting ability for 15 days, and so on and so forth - where you can set what each warning level does, on boards with a predetermined set this would be a lot easier.
Jaggi Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 your right the warn system does need a huge overhaul and this would make a nice addition :D.
Luke Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Not sure if this is what you meant but: The ability to do the warning screen without touching warning level would be awesome.Also... Limiting how many times a moderator can warn a member... If there isn't a way to do this already, you should be able to disable this.Another idea would be auto-punishment. You can't put moderation on auto-pilot. Every situation is different.
.Ryan Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 +1 Needs to be Considered, and another thing:Should intergate somehow with the Admin Notes of a Member...
Digi Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Not sure if this is what you meant but: The ability to do the warning screen without touching warning level would be awesome. Thanks what I mean :)Also... Limiting how many times a moderator can warn a member... If there isn't a way to do this already, you should be able to disable this. You can set all of these per mod type, per day, in the warn system settings. Realistically, setting max warn per day to something like 99 would seem "disabled" enough in my eyes. If you've got a member that bad....you've got issues :P
sparc Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I don't find the warn panel as useful as it could be.The notes are handy, but as mentioned in the OP it could be expanded a bit more. That way you don't have to create topics about members in a moderator forum.Moderator preview is good and we use it instead of banning. Ban hasn't been useful for us. By that time we have to IP ban by an admin. Plus once you ban a member, you can no longer keep track of IP addresses. At least with mod preview you can log their IP addresses from new posts they make. The message to the warned members could using a significant upgrade. It would be nice if there was a way to merge the warn message part of the Warn Panel with a central Moderator Report Center for all moderators. Feedback on Moderator Report Center (Here)
Digi Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I just noticed there was a way to add "notes" in the ACP while editing a user's profile settings. I haven't tested further, but it appears that this functions almost exactly as I've asked, only restricted to admin use via acp.
~Dopey~ Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I think a notes kind of thing for IP.Board would be cool :)i.e. inform other staff of any encounters staff have had in the past (but wasn't enough to warn, but will if done again is enough to warn). It'd save some hassle :P
That1TyGuy Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I definitely agree that something should be done with the warning panel. One of my major issues is not being able to have warnings deleted after a certain time period.
