SecondSight Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Hello ! :)I've decided to use a lot the calendar. My board is about education and there are many events that can be announced in the calendar (exams, information, events, holidays too :), etc. ).So I posted an announcement to explain members what the calendar is for and how to use it. And members use it now. But it appears that placed in the statistics section, under the "Today's birthdays" section, it is not seen by most members... :(Don't you think it should be at the top of the board, under the menus ?Do you think that there could be an option in the ACP which could allow us to choose the place where the calendar "Forthcoming Calendar Events within the next 5 days" section should appear ?Thank you ! :)
SecondSight Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 I think they wouldn't see it too, because they don't often go in their user cp.I've tried to put it under the "Welcome back; your last visit was: Today, 10:18 AM..." but I didn't make it... :(
TestingSomething Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I don't now, but the calendar needs to be totally redone in my opinion. And especially on the index page when it tells what is coming up.... that needs to be changed because a lot of people may never realize that you must roll over it to see dates. I personally think that calendar area on the index page should be 7 squares with dates in it for the upcoming 7 days and show it that way.

What a member wants to do with displaying the upcoming events is catch people's attention. If they see a title of an event that may appeal to them, they'll click it for details, just like the other topics throughout the forum. All that extra clutter created by making each individual day display in the stats block would be annoying for most users (I think).
SecondSight Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 You should mention where to view upcoming events in your announcement! :DHello ! :)That's what I'm doing. But I believe it should be better, at least for me, to place the calendar events section at the top rather than at the bottom. And moreover, what does it have to do with the board's statistics section ? Nothing since events are not statistics. Don't you think so ?I've tried doing it myself, but I didn't make it... :(

I dont know if they would click it just to find out the date though.
