April 7, 200718 yr Does increasing the amount of the PM space take up extra space and bandwidth? You answered your own question. Yes, increasing the space will take up more space. Bandwidth really has nothing to do with it, just increasing the amount of space in your members' PM boxes will not automatically make your site use more bandwidth.
April 8, 200718 yr Depends how much you up it by, how much space your hosting has, how much space your using, if your members will use the space, how many members you have, how often members use the PM system, etc. etc. etc.But probably no.
April 8, 200718 yr http://www.deadlyfiregfx.com/forum/index.php?act=idxPlease note that I'm not advertising. It's a rapidly growing board, and it's an extremely active community. However, the PM box is set to a limit of 50 messages, which I find extremely low, because it's the type of board that people need to PM system for graphics, links, etc.Would it really slow down that board much at all?
April 8, 200718 yr Not really, on a board with 100,000 members we set the limit to 50 and the space it takes up is about 35MB.
