Really wish IPS would check their coding before releasing

As per title ..

Seems IPS just re-code for new versions but do not bother cheking if it affects the skin

In board view click the 'Todays active topics' 'moderating team' etc using default skin and some of the text titles are out of alignment, yet in earlier releases it is not

This is probably due to some new coding used in the template which although can be remedied is a pain to have to do ... all because someone is not checking what effect their code has afterwards

Thought this had been tested 'in house' and in the beta release versions yet this is showing (as is problem with 'Options' drop down menu in Topic View which just scrolls to bottom of screen in IE6)

We do check our coding - hence why we have beta's. :) It's very hard to catch every problem internally as a developer - so we have private beta's, a QA team, and finally public betas so our users can assist in testing as well. It's up to you whether or not you want to participate - but it should be fully expected there are issues with beta and RC releases, hence why we haven't labeled them final.

yes .. i understand why beta and RC but the first matter i mentioned should ahve been spotted straight away ... before it even got to public beta stages

the 'options' problem should have been noticed before it got to RC stages (or noticed in RC1 at least)

I would gladly participate in beta testing (I beta test for other companies for a fee) but am not installing zend or ioncube or whatever else just so can beta test so I wait for RC versions

The RC versions are not encoded. Hence, you are completely free to beta test them. :)

You do understand that IPB 2.2.0 is released the second RC version already right?

If you don't want to help beta test, then you don't have to, but don't complain they didn't find a bug you found ( you don't get to complain if you don't help out ).

As i stated I would help .. but not by installing other software .. I also stated I beta test other software ... I was not complaining (why complain as not going to help anyone .. is it) .. I was just pointing out a fact ... nothing more ... if that is complaining .. then ok .. take it as complaining ...

Well your complaining about that ips don't check it enough, but if they took longer some other people would moan about them taking too long. Seems like ips can't win.

I would be prepared to wait longer for a finished product .. always have stated that on previous versions ... its others that are impatient ... as soon as an RC version is released then you see a question ... when is next release due ... and my answer to that is .... when its released ... not before, what is point of releasing a bug filled program only to have to uninstall it or upgrade to next release every week or so because members keep asking for next release and a new version released when better to wait a further 2 weeks or whatever ?

Anyway, good luck with fixing the above mentioned matters, look forward to seeing them fixed ... hopefully ... lol

I really can't get this straight.

They release a beta to help find bugs that are easy to catch, they fix them (not all of them, because they wish not to), they release their second beta to cut down the bugs at everyone and they start catching what's still not fixed and again report them. They then release a release candidate so everyone can have a look at the code, modders have a go at upgrading their mods, and hopefully feedback from interesting members about the code.

I don't see where the problem lies if they release a kazillion betas and even more release candidates actually o.O. I mean, for the noobs out there it clearly states not to try any of those on a live board yet. You start ridiculous topics like this one ONLY when the final is out and there are still any bugs with the code. That's totally fair! (Even firefox had errors in RC3!)

Anyway, good luck with fixing the above mentioned matters, look forward to seeing them fixed ... hopefully ... lol

I hate to think that you were being sarcastic, because if you were, it means you don't think that IPS can fix code errors. They resolve 'security' errors which are a PAIN to trace back in a blink of an eye, and you really doubt how quick they can fix a bug in their code?
