Hi there,

Well, finally I'm about to buy IBF, because of recent hacker attacks on your last free version which was in fact 2.0. I have been interested in what updates and new features are to come with the new versions. I'm pretty sure that IBF is the best one to buy even for a private user with only some members to use his forum.

Neverthelesse there's one thing I do not like about the current version running in here. I like IBF because it's very simple to use as member. You just find anything you want very fast. But as every man does while enhancing the features-list, your software became overcrowded with stuff the average member does not use, I think. Espacially the post-reply page is full of colors and clickable stuff here and there. Why? I think you do not require colors like every Windows user has on his screen all the time...

You mean the sidepanel, eh?

For me, this isn't the worst problem... i also mean to collect things most used like the image and link button and this stuff in a dropdown then or having some buttons left handed some right... looks kind of overkill to me... compare to versions before....!

that should be a start in the right direction, I think. And while using a board, the users normally start to write with smilies with having to click on them ;)

Maybe the scripting people should think about when to stop making buttons for everything. Hopefully it does not get worse next update then it's fine with me. Ah, maybe a windows-user thinks the other way... *g

a found out that there's even a very small dropdown menu on good old "edit".... where are also dropdown menues? on entering a subforum? aksing if I want to see this special forum in lofi-mode or what?

Just try to stop this run...

Okay, I can see where you are coming from. But also keep in mind the average user who may not know BB code, or how to use it. My brother knows HTML, but BB Code is still confusing him! The buttons there make it easier for people such as that to be able to use the features that they couldn't otherwise use unless they attempted to understand how BB Code works.

Heck, I even understand BB Code, and I use the drop downs and buttons just for the mere convenience of them being there.

Since you can disable some in my opinion useless functions, thats fine with me. And I still really like IPB. It gets better each update and the developers are mostly after suggestions from users. There's no better way ;)

We added in the side panel because some members were upset that the smilies were in a drop down menu.

You can turn off the side-panel from the ACP in any case.

I think you should improve it a bit more if possible. The emoticons part is pretty ugly, whereas before I remember they were divided up and there was a scroller - it looked much better then. In any case, I'd prefer it if the emoticon side menu was the same as in 2.1.

I don't see the point of the quick access to the special items, we've already got it in a dropdown menu. Which TBH I don't like as I've said I'd rather just have some images like there are a few of in quick reply at the moment - I like that.

Any chance of a few more options in ACP to allow us to easily edit the posting area to the way we want it to work?

The drop down smilie menu isn't wide enough, and covers half of the third row, what's it gonna be like with wide smilies?

There should be an option to use the old smilie table on the left, the way it's been for years ... all this changing for the sake of it is what people don't like.

And can someone tell me what the spell checker button is for? Call me stupid if you like, but l imagined it was there to check your spelling .... silly me!

That's enough for me. Eventhough I do not like smilies. Especially the wide ones... ;)

So there's only the question left: Why are the often used things like tags in a dropdown? I think just these two are very often used. Why do you want people to click once more before inserting these items? I think you came to the solution yourself, that there are too much buttons and stuff. But maybe you've chosen the wrong ones to make accessible only through a dropdown ;)

Ah, and you've added the spoiler-tag after version 2.0. Very nice and useful!
