How about making the language sets stored in database?

Hello,

How about making the language sets stored in database? This will make the translation more efficiency and save time on comparing 2 or more language sets when the new language files released. We may do the language thing by quering the database.

For example, in V2.2.2, there is a table with 2 sheets, one is English another is Chinese, each of them stored 100 lines of language stings; in V2.2.3, 10 english strings added, so after upgrade, both sheets increased to 110 lines, then I can translate the 10 english strings added into Chinese sheet through the ACP. This can avoid BLANK problem of one language set after the new English strings defined. If we need to add a 3rd language, just creating a 3rd sheet based on English sheet in the table.

hmm.. i only saif the truth. as a translator, i don't like the language packs, too. but its quite more usefull than a language pack which limits my connection... it could be done with a diff programm, i diffed the differences 2.1 to 2.2 in hlf an hour...

it shouldn#T be a dismiss ( i cannot d it, thats up to matt if he wants to :D), it was my opinion...

btw, id = idea... missed some keys :D

stupid id... would get some mre traffic on the mysql db... more traffic = less user/forum... ;)

Not if you cache what's in the database to the current format used by language files. Also, there is no need to call an idea stupid because you don't agree with it.

hmm. there must be a difference between stupid idea and "dumme idee" (i thought that's the same in english..

sorry for dismissing. i don't wanted to do that ;)

@josh: ok. if you cash it it might work... but than you'll need a powerfull translation tool or something like that in the ACP...

Sure there are ways to find the differences between files, like using emedit or ultraedit32, but I am sure it's not the best way, either.

If the condition is I have good server and good bandwidth, I would like to choose more queries rather than comparing files out of IPB.

I believe one start point is the beginning of some changes, though the start point is stupid, it is still a start.

ok. i agree in that point :D

it must be a system which is easy, take controle of unused language bits (and remove them) and includes an editor....

I think the language editor is alreay in ACP, just one more function of 'language auto-patch' will be helpful on avoiding BLANK.

My personal opinion on 'Stupid' is okay, it is just an adjective and it does not mean it is right the truth.
