Mark
I have this open as a ticket (300674 if a staff member happens to see this) but I am sure others must have asked the same question and already have replies.Basically, I was told a little while ago that yearly license holders, could upgrade to perpectual within 60 days from date of purchase for $115.05 (the difference between a yearly and perpectual license)I just want to make sure that this option will still be available to me under the new licensing options even after they come into effect as I was assured it would be. Dark Phantom
I have this open as a ticket (300674 if a staff member happens to see this) but I am sure others must have asked the same question and already have replies.Basically, I was told a little while ago that yearly license holders, could upgrade to perpectual within 60 days from date of purchase for $115.05 (the difference between a yearly and perpectual license)I just want to make sure that this option will still be available to me under the new licensing options even after they come into effect as I was assured it would be.After the IPB 2.2.x release the "yearly' and "perpectual" licenses will not exist. So to answer your question, there will be nothing to upgrade to, you will pay the $149.99 Standard License and every 6 months pay $25 for optional support product upgrades. This is similar to another alternative where you pay to "own" the board, and pay $30 every year for product updates. This change is actually cheaper in the long run, since the "owned" copy of said other product is more then IPS new standard license. I will not compare such other product's other license, since once it expires your not allowed to use the product, which is NOT the case with the standard license. If you have a current license that is NOT expired, its been said you can pay the different till Oct 1st, although they said they might turn a blind eye if its before the IPB 2.2.x ( they did not exactly say this, but they did say they wouldn't be jerks about the Oct 1st date ).You can take my view of the statement in terms of only the yearly to perpectual license different payment how you want, to be sure that you get the upgrade, I would do it before Oct 1st.If you don't upgrade, and your yearly license will not expire for lets say 2 months, then your license will upgrade ( so to speak ) for free to a Standard License ( $149.99 ) and then pay an optional $25 every 6 months. If you have an expired license, I suggest you contact support, they might depending if its not like ( 2 years old ) upgrade your license. Mark
Charles, your reply confuses me.You say "yes" - meaning I can pay the $115.05, but then "we have waived that 60 day requirement" - does that mean that we can upgrade at any time? What if the new pricing structure comes out before 60 days is up? Did you mean to say "we will honer that 60 day requirement"
Management Charles Posted September 20, 2006 Management Share Posted September 20, 2006 I think we're confusing each other :)Yes you can upgrade your Yearly to Perpetual. We have also changed it so even if you purchased your license a long time ago you can do this - what I meant by waiving that 60 day thing. If you mean you just recently purchased your Yearly then I am sure the customer service staff can sort out unique circumstances like you :)
Mark
OK, just to completly clarify.I bought by license on Sep 4, 2006. If my maths is as good as I think, 60 days is Nov 3, 2006.If I send you $115.05 on November 3, 2006 will you upgrade me to a perpectual license as if the new licensing structure never came into place? I can see "BUT YOU SAID!!!!" a couple months from now :)
Mark
Thanks, I will put this topic ID in my ticket. You can expect to have a new perpetual license owner sometime before this November.
