Phillykins
It's not a bug, when you download the software through the customer download centre, this is replaced with the version number but Matt hasn't downloaded it through there. WilliamTM
That should be a bit of a help in detecting pirated boards. :)
dg0896
That should be a bit of a help in detecting pirated boards. :)It would be nice, but I doubt it will help any, just a little php code that a nuller can't steal. But the encoded script that you need zend for will help a lot more, making it really hard to null. I'm glad they're encoding scripts now.

TestingSomething
They only encoded it becuase it was in beta and they didn't want their ideas getting out early onto other boards or hackers getting a chance to start early looking at it, I am sure. Sam Granger
I hope Invision will encode atleast a bit of code to help prevent piracy.
.Cameron
I hope Invision will encode atleast a bit of code to help prevent piracy.I agree. I think that there should be some sort of system in place where product key must be entered and it must be authorized with the IPS server. Of course that entire code would need to be encoded and that might make some people mad, but it would be better overall.

ZuCruTrooper2
I don't want it encoded as I'm too lazy to install Zend. That's just me though...I realize that for most people this won't be a problem, but serious nullers and crackers can get around anything. That wouldn't be a problem at all for someone who knows what they're doing.
Keven Fox
Um, why does your site say IPB v2.1.8?Err, probably the same reason mine says 3.0.1 :P

Jaggi
firstly u can just use the new feature of turning off version id's in footer to get rid of that error so doesn't really stop anything. @ encoding files - obviously you've never written mods for IPB and i have and i tell you now that'd be nightmare as i like to make mods fit into IPB as easily as possible and hiding code with encoding scripts it just not a viable solution besides i pay for invision and i believe that should be source and all. Quillz
I hope Invision will encode atleast a bit of code to help prevent piracy.I disagree. If hackers really want to hack someone's board, there are ways to get around even Zend encoded files.
Mat Barrie
You must be a proud young man. :rolleyes:Actually, he is. He then went to the trouble of paying all up for a license. IPS doesn't seem to mind now that he's "gone straight" so to speak ;)Personally, I'm not a fan of encoding. As long as every board has a unique number, and is bound in the customer centre to a specific URL, IPS have everything they need to DETECT piracy - how they deal with it from there is their call.Side note, they can't encode the forum without losing customers. It would then be the ONLY encoded forum system on the market, and without the API of vBulletin would become an inferior product in terms of extendability.
