Logan
I think it'd be a nice feature if you had the ability to edit the forum title and description from the board index via ajax, the same way you edit a topic title or description from the forum index. I find it time consuming to log in to the ACP just to make small changes like this, or if you have a lot of forums you want to edit. Of course adding the correct checks to make this only available to root admins, and regular admins who have permission to edit forums (content:forum:edit). JeremyM
What if you accidentally do it though? You could erase a whole description just with a few clicks. If implemented please may it able to turn on/off via admin settings.

If it's to be done the same way that you would edit the topic title and description, you'd have to click and hold on the forum title and description for several seconds. Something that'd be hard to accidentally do. +1 for this suggestion. (This is obviously a much wanted feature, since there are a few mods for this already.) Dlf
Not really. If you double click on a topic description you can edit it instead of "waiting" for the box to come up.

But still, this isn't any more "dangerous" that being able to edit topic titles and descriptions.
Logan
Correct, I think you need to stop worrying about the "dangers" and start thinking about the advantages this would bring :). No longer required to log into the ACP edit this stuff, that some frequently update (spelling/grammar mistakes, rewording, etc...). Back to dangers though, there aren't really any. They aren't anymore dangerous than this being available for topics. And there is a good system in place to avoid accidents (so called dangers), like the time limit that you are required to click and hold like mentioned above. Dlf
Just thought of this, but what of a log of changes (topic, topic description, and forum title/description), by who (the group . . .), when. Just a "extra" precation, also a javascript message of "are you sure want to edit (object)?".
Logan
There is already logging for topic changes done from the forum view. Yes, if this was implemented it'd be a good idea to log it (to the admin logs though). I don't know if a javascript message is neccessary, it could become quite annoying if you use the feature often. A setting to turn it on/off would be sufficient I think. All the AJAX features should come with an off setting actually, as some people really would rather not use them or some have a reason not to. Perhaps a setting group with all of the AJAX features listed with an on/off switch could be added.
ellawella
If added, this feature should definitely be optionable and turned off by default IMO. Way too much capacity for inexperienced admins to inadvertently erase stuff.
Luke
Just to clear something up: On the topic and description edit, you have to hold down the mouse button to edit the title and simply click (not hold) the description to edit. The hold click was implemented because if you clicked the link, you are supposed to go the the topic, not edit the title. The description is a simple click because it doesnt have a link. As logan said, it could be done the same way. The description could be a click and hold as well. It sure would be a nice feature if you had to change the title or description, like fixing a typo or something (not having to go into adminCP). However if you did that, you would have to do the same for the root catagories as well.
Shawn Dean
Gotta love mods for that reason. :D As it may or may not get implemented.

Brandon C
Very, very nice idea, Logan! :D A big +5 from me and would love to see this feature added, but as Cy said above, you would need to make it for the root forums as well. :)
