Logan
Just like the "Ignore Users: Protected Groups" to specify groups that cannot have their posts ignored, you should be able to specify groups that cannot have their PMs blocked by another user. There's a mod for it by FuSoYa: http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/6004 IMO, it should be a default feature. Would be very good to have for many different reasons. ZeRoRaVeN
Isn't this an option already? Hmm...it doesn't seem like...if it isn't then I agree... Though in Topics, Posts, Polls this option is in Posts Ignore Users: Protected Groups Members of the groups selected will not be able to be ignored. Is this similiar? bfarber
Would you think it would need a separate setting, or perhaps just honor that same setting you highlighted for PM's as well as posts?
Logan
I think one setting would be better. Delete the existing one that is in the topics and polls, and add it somewhere else more approriate. Maybe security & privacy. Call the setting, Unignorable/Unblockable Groups. In the description have, the groups selected on the right will not be able to have their posts or PMs blocked by users. BTW: Rather than adding a suggestion topic for each of the "good" small, but beyond useful mods. Do you guys ever look at the mods at Invisionize for example for inspiration of new features? There are quite a bit which IMO would make a great feature. Another one I had in mind was this one
bfarber
That was actually just suggested here. To be honest, I only visit IZE on occasion now, to talk with some old friends more or less. I'm kept quite busy at IPS Beyond. ;) I tend to get most feature suggestions from this forum in all reality. That's not to say it's not good for users to submit feature suggestions for useful modifications - it just means that I don't research the available modifications and implement those ideas proactively. Or, rather to clarify, I have not begun to do that yet. I'm still somewhat new on the IPB development team. :)
ZeRoRaVeN
Call the setting, Unignorable/Unblockable Groups. In the description have, the groups selected on the right will not be able to have their posts or PMs blocked by users. That makes sense, and should work well going on the presumption that groups that cannot be ignored/blocked would want to be done for both rather than just either one. Though I'm quite sure that somebody will want to have just one, but for the sake of simplicity, I recommend making it one setting. Someone would probably come out with a modification for that. Actually, you could add it in the User Groups setting instead, "Can this group be blocked/ignored?" Personally, I think that would be most appropiate, although for a large user group of users who cannot be blocked/ignored it would be more difficult to manage. Logan
There are already enough options in the per-group settings, and it's always hectic to update/change things globally to multiple groups. I find the multiple select box is a lot easier to use. So I'm still for having one setting for this, in a setting group, using the multiple group select box. ZeRoRaVeN
That is true, but it feels the most appropiate, and if you start a new group based on the admin or moderator group (if you have one) the permissions would automatically be inherited.
