Tomm
This is something i hope finds it's way to a future release, multiple rank paths. Let me explain, let use Star Trek for an example here, when a new user joins they can pick what rank path they want to be on (starfleet, romulan, klingon etc..) so basically there is a seting that ties a user to a set rank path. Right now we only have one rank path, but if we were alowed to make multiple rank paths (starfleet, klingon, romulan etc ranks) than a particular user can tie to the one he/she picks. Now there is a workaround but it is Very cumbersome, that is to have different groups that promote to other groups to achive the desired rank after a certain # of posts. The problem is that is you have 20 post level ranks per catagory and 3 catagorys (or more), then thats 60 groups to contend with, so not the best idea. So rather than dealing with groups, the ranking system should be expanded to allow 2 main things: - Setting multiple rank catagorys in ACP, very similar to how we set up groups. - A ucp control that lets the user pick what rank catagory to attach to I think this would be a cool feature for alot of people and would add some variety to alot of forums. - TOM
//Nathan
Keeping with your Trek theme, when they join, they choose their race. Or, on a non-Trek theme, a question like "What class would you like to join" with answers like Techie, Musician, Film Critic, Regular Joe. I can't say I agree with this suggestion, that it's a must-have feature, but it would be cool nonetheless.
.John.
This wouldn't make it in a default install, but I'm sure you could modify it to be able to do such! :)
