Dark Phantom
I would like to make the sugguestion that these files are moved to a more, secure location, just something about not removing the install directory seems weird. Now although this would mean the code exists twice, my suggestion is just to "include" the code located in these files, in a file thats called by the installer. This file could be removed, and the code using with the ACP could be called from a better location. Just seems weird to require the install file, after all these years, old habits are hard to end
Nimdock
Also, the "install" folder is not included on the download for hosting customers...

.John.
I agree this is quite annoying, I discovered this as well after deleting the ./install/ folder and receiving an error in the components section or something.
Guest
If you're worried about security concerns, all you need to delete is the index.php file from the 'install' directory to remove that risk. :)
.John.
But then you can see a directory listing...
UBERHOST.NET
But then you can see a directory listing... Copy the index.html from your uploads folder into any folder that has no index file.
.John.
Still, the entire directory SHOULD be able to be deleted.
Dark Phantom
We lived almost 3 years without having an install directory. To my knowlege ever alternative asks you to delete the install file The only reason its required now is because of I believe one file, which could be located in any number of places.
