Bamfer
Every board software I'm familiar with allows smilies in their sigs. Why does IPB not allow this by default with their software? Could this be added in 2.1.2? I've read on quite a few IPB boards members wish to have this available to them. :)

tomturd
You mean allow smilies and not bbcode? If you enable bbcode in signatures smilies work fine.
Xenboy
It doesn't on my copy of 2.1.1. BBCODE is parsed, but smilies never are.
Bamfer
I use BBcode but smilies have never worked even in 2.0.4. I find it so strange that smilies don't work with IPB but so many other boards allow it. This is a much needed feature. Matt?
Marcello
Ofcourse its easier when BBCode enables smiley parsing as well, but why not let them rightclick the smiley they wanna use, copy the link and use the img tags in their signatures? Xenboy
Because that's what you call "counter intuitive" -- Users don't expect to have to do things like that when standard emoticon notation works everywhere else. What you suggest (and some other similar techniques) are what my users are using now, but it's just a temporary fix, not a good permanent solution. iMonkey
Agreed, I like this idea and I also agree that users shouldn't have to jump through ooops just to put a :) in their sig... +
Bamfer
Sorry, I don't want to hot link Prison Bound. It should be standard and I hope Matt or someone takes a look at this thread and works it in for 2.1.3. :)
biggazillakilla
Man, I didn't even know smilies wouldn't work in signatures until I just tried adding a small custom graphic that I wanted to use as a smilie in my signature. Yes, smilies definitely need to work in signatures.
