Keyword & Ping System

The Keyword System would allow the thread creator to enter in keywords in a field just below the Topic Description field. Keywords would then be listed at the top of the thread, with a link to a popup window that list all keywords, and each keyword is linked to a keyword search feature to list all threads with that keyword.
Any member would be able to add keywords to the keyword field in the currently occupied thread. AJAX would be great for editing this field

The Ping System would enable any member to ping any member(s) to a post or topic they are in. Ping notification would be similar to the PM notification, indicating quantity of pings, with a link to a popup window showing the thread title, and who sent the ping, and when.
A Ping button would have to be in each post, upon execution, one could enter in as many members as they wish (groups too), and they could choose to ping to the post itself or the topic. A feature would need to be in the ping list window using a member find feature like is used when composing a PM, and including members in the send to field. If one could also choose from the same buddy list used for PMs, that would be fantastic!
Eventually, a ping buddy feature could be included, so that ping buddy groups can quickly be chosen.
Members should have the ability to shut off this notify feature in MyControls.


These two systems would greatly enhance the use of IPB, and cut down on bandwidth because of clumsy searches.

Keywords sounds good, but I am not understanding the "pings" concept.

EDIT: Okay, for the 'ping' is this sort of a "look at this topic" thing, that people could send to others to show them the topic?
