url rewriting?

is it possible we could get an option to have url rewriting as a feature for the new release. I know it works better on search engines and would omit a fair amount of the &'s and ?'s in urls. I use it frequently in my work, and find it very useful.

This is a good option to have, but I would also like to have an option to restrict the google bot from going past the index. Over 1/2 my bandwidth is sucked up by the google bot.

I know this is a simple meta tag or using a robots.txt file, but it would simplify things.

It would be very nice to have Search Engine Friendly URL's within the forums as standard. I have a mod installed that creates a google sitemap file but it would be really cool if the actual url's were in a nice easy format for the engine's to find.

Would also be nicer to be able to have a link to the gallery for instance that is {board_url}/Gallery as opposed to {board_url}index.php?act=Gallery etc

I am all for this option, or mod .. whichever can be done. It would allow the sites to be indexed better and as Grooverider said it would be nice for the other programs installed such as gallery etc...

it's wasn't url rewriting. it was just redirecting

http://yourboard/show.php/f/4

to

http://youboard/index.php?act=showforum&f=4

but it didn't change the link in the board

Hmm... That's pretty cool. I'd like to see that updated for 2.1 final.

Agreed. I think the URLs should be displayed as in the first quote above this message. Except maybe stick a .html on the very end.
