webgoof Posted January 17, 2005 Share Posted January 17, 2005 WHat if the AdminCP was set up so that the skin's copyright cannot be modified unless the skin was created w/ that AdminCP? Thus, if I import a skin, even if i change all the HTML and CSS, i still cannot touch the copytight because it was not a copy of the origional default skin? Since the code is viewable and editable, one can ask anyone who knows php how to still remove it. I doubt the majority of users rip off skin copyrights. Those inclined to do so IMO will continue no matter what software prevention measures are put into place. Skin creaters need to realize if they really want to protect their copyrights they have to take an active role in it such as contacting offenders' hosts to request removal or taking legal action. Those not prepared to do this can try to minimize the problem by limiting distribution or just accept the fact a certain percentage of people will rip off their work.
