We are currently in the beginning stages of developing a Courses and Lessons application within Invision Community. This will only be available on our cloud services as a value addition. We receive regular requests for Learning Management System (LMS) capabilities in Invision Community and the Courses app will start us down that path. The Courses app is not going to try to be a full LMS. Not trying to run a university here 🙂 But we do think there is value in offering basic LMS capabilities within a community context. Some features we are already doing: Ability to create Courses with multiple Modules Modules can have multiple content items that …

I am excited to officially announce the first release of Live Topics coming in our April release of Invision Community for selected cloud plans! Live Topics is a hosted live chat and question-and-answer event that is converted into a forum topic upon completion. It combines the fun and togetherness of a live event with the permanence of a forum topic allowing you to continue the conversation long after the event has ended. Recap: The first look at Live Topics including a video showing the main features. I know many of you on our community have already had sneak peeks and have been patiently waiting, so without further ado, let's get into it. Who is Liv…

Hi, I would like to point out in advance that I am starting this topic to hear the official position of IPS, not to make fun of etc. You constantly negate external infrastructures in favor of your cloud. And how will you explain your TOTAL DOWNTIME 12h 42m in the last 7 days? I would like to add that my dedicated server has had 100% UPTIME for a year. But if I was paying that much money for a cloud and seeing a 500 error for 8 hours, I would have given up on the service pretty quickly. Now let's imagine that during downtime some big business forum has important Live Topics?

We deployed WebP support today for both US and EU regions. This was honestly an oversight on our part and I want to thank @Dll for pointing out that WebP was not properly enabled.

On our cloud platform, we handle email for you. To ensure email deliverability we have to keep our "score" high which means we are very strict about managing email sending. Right now, our systems monitor when an email bounces or is reported as spam. For spam reports we immediately stop sending to that email to ensure a good sending score. For bounces, it depends on the type of bounce but they will eventually be blocked as well. This is great for sending scores but sometimes emails get blocked when they should not. People might accidentally click mark as spam. Their email provider might be having technical problems one day causing bounces that then get resolve. T…

This is one of those behind the scenes improvements that you do not know happen but we still like to tell people about. All media that is uploaded to your community (images, videos, any sort of files) is now automatically replicated to a write-only backup within 5 minutes of upload. This means that backups of your media are basically continuous now. This part is not new but as a review.... For databases, we have two levels of backups: daily and weekly. Our daily snapshots are for catastrophic recovery and are extremely robust as they are replicated internally. The weekly backups are what I call "convenience backups" which might sound strange but let me explain. …

An issue was fixed today impacting communities in the EU region using video transcoding services. The transcoding services were not properly recognizing requests for transcoding a video as US vs EU and therefore failing.

We will soon be announcing some statistics and reporting improvements that will be available to both Cloud Platform and Classic self-hosted editions of Invision Community. Look out for a blog entry on that soon! I did want to talk about one addition to reporting and statistics that will not be available on Classic and do a quick preview: per-item reports. You will be able to see a view of the popularity of a section (specific forum, gallery album, download category, etc.) or item (forum topic, gallery image, file, etc.) over a time period. For example, you could see a graph showing which hour/day/week/month had the most views in an individual topic. Right now, s…

We are deploying updates to our backend cache layer today. This change should see decreased latency for logged in members. While a small change, multiplied over every click for every member it will make a noticeable difference. This change does not impact guests/bots (those not logged in) as those views are handled by the CDN. You may see up to 10 minutes of slowness at some point today while the change deploys.

I wanted to let everyone know that we will soon be eliminating page views as a limiter on all our current offered packages. Advancements in our underlying infrastructure have made it not as important to meter based on traffic.
