Is there a way to create a custom event type? ie. under "search events", the only options I have are to select the date range and select a "Type" - and the only options for "type" are "Online events" and "Physical events". I can see an option to add tags when creating an event which should be used in the global search, but we would like a way to filter our events by even type from the Events page. Is this possible?

Hello, in Pages I created Database, Categories, Fields and then added Records. In some categories, where is record listing I see "admnistrators banner"... or what is it.... titled topic_posted_in_groups As you can see, some records have this, but some not. What is it? I cannot see any setting for this.

Had a baby and the last 2 years have been tough. Now I need to revamp my forums but I also need to be able to post topic or comments outside of the forums into a wp or a php page. Is there a paid tool I can buy to do this or does IPS have a plug in now that provides integration outside of the site to display topics so that when people click the links they are sent back to the forum? Thanks in advance

I'm developing my first menu with Invision Community v4.7.9. My Main Menu, level one, is home2000, Amerifax, Wisconsin, Bob, Browser The browser has a second level with Clubs, Forums, Blogs, etc. I want my first level to have its own Clubs, Forums, etc. How can I add them to my first level and with their own data? Ok, I may be going stir crazy, but I seem to remember there being a setting to feature the uploaded image in a pages database record. Is that a setting somewhere? I'm not seeing the ability to do so on the record itself, and I've been through the database settings. If I remember right, it would show the larger image above the record text. Any help would be great, thanks!

Hello, I just activated read permissions for guests on a forum. The guest still receive the following 2S100/2 error however. "The page you are trying to access is not available to guests, but may be available if you sign in." Permissions confirmed. I also confirmed the "Guests" group has site access in general. This forum is the apps default page. Does it take time to propagate or am I missing a permission?

Hi Everyone - I use Invision Community as one part of my membership site. I was wondering if there are ways to take precautions so that there is no sharing of log in credentials. For example, I don't want someone to join the membership, and have them share their login credentials with their colleagues, etc. The board goes beyond discussion and includes access to lead generation information, which is why I only want paying members to have access. I wasn't sure if there are certain analytics or plugins that can help with this additional layer of security. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I want to allow members to add a profile field which allows them to link to a specific post in a specific board. Is there a better way to do this besides using a URL type and regex that filters to `https://www.example.com/forums/forum`? Some other fields allow specifying a particular database record for instance, but profile fields only seem to include the basic types.

I want to create a user profile field that displays under the user's profile picture on posts, which is fairly straight forward with a template modification. However, there only seems to be two permission options: whether or not the member can set the value. I want to take a more nuanced approach - I want this field, which is just a free text field, to be displayed only if the user is a member of certain groups. Otherwise, it should only be configurable by an administrator, just as all profile fields can be modified directly in the ACP. Is there a way to do this out of the box or will I need to look at plugin development for this?

Hello. I set up zapier to post a tweet every time a new record is created in a database. When a new database record is published but I set it hidden, edit it, add photo and then remove the hidden checkmakr only 1-2 tweets will appear in the tweeter daily. But if I publish the database record and set it to be immediately visible, public then tweeter zapier behaves as expected and instantly publishes a new tweet. Is this how it should behave? Is it possible to change it so zapier is triggered when the record becomes visible?

Hi all, just a general question. I couldn't find this in the documentation so I thought I'd ask here. Under System -> General Configuration, there is an option to specify your "main site." When toggled on, it accepts a name and a url. After enabling this option and providing the requested information, I took a cursory glance to the front-end of my website and found nothing to be visibly different. What does this setting actually control? Is it just setting the field for API purposes or does this option have an effect somewhere?

I bought the lifetime license for IPB so so many years ago. The forums were exactly what we needed and we used it up to 3.4.x something. But when I needed to continue with it support was removed, my lifetime license was terminated and I was stuck with a broken forum who's database may or may not even be corrupted. Out of frustration I looked into other options and bought Xenforo in 2021 All in all, I feel like I've made a mistake. There are so many features that our 3.x forums had from IPB that ran circles around the stuff I can do (and am limited to) in XF. I received an email from Twitter with the above mentioned subject which said: This is referencing my Twitter login app via the IPB's Login & Registration area in the ACP, which still seems to work. The email appears to be legitimate, and it came directly from an IP address owned by Twitter, so I'm not really sure what it means at this point. Did anyone else get this? Any ideas?
