[Suggestions] FB & Max. image size
by Guest Matt Marshall- 4 replies
- 1.9k views
I can't say I own an IP Board anymore, but more from using these forums I have two small ideas for improvements. 1. Facebook ID links in My Profiles, and perhaps to stay with the times, is ICQ still needed as default? 2. Maximum image dimensions when posting in topics - I know uploaded images are automatically adjusted, but why can't posted ones be too? 'Tis annoying having to create a thumbnail image in topics like "Share your desktop", or have someone else post one full size further down. Regards, Matt

Bug Fixes
by Guest The Clash- 12 replies

I have to say, that for the first time since 2.0 was released, I am seriously disappointed. I upgraded my board the day 2.3.2 came out, not expecting all of the problems with it. I'm happy that a patch for the post markers was released, but what about the other problems (specificially the URL parsing)? It's been over a week since 2.3.2 was released, yet these bugs still remain unpatched. I know you're busy with Nexus and everything, and that it can be a lot of work, but really - shouldn't your top priority be the actual paying customers you have rather than the ones you're hoping to get? I'm not asking for 2.3.3 - just patches to fix the 2.3.2 problems, and fast releases…

Secondary group Admin assignement
by Guest Developer- 23 replies
- 6.2k views
Hello, Currently none root admins with ACP access are unable to edit/delete root admin group users, but are able to add root group to mask to none root admin users. They are also able to add root admin group mask to secondary group. Is it a bug or intended to work that way ?

Revamp Bulk Mail
by Guest Jason H- 5 replies
- 1.6k views
Just in here as a note more than anything.. Next go-round.. Rethink the entire Bulk Mail system. Right now, with it being tied to board activity, it's a huge headache from a support standpoint. Noone understands that there has to be board activity to have mail sent. What about a "Send Bulk Mail" button that will auto-refresh a window.. Similar to how rebuilding post content is done? Would allow users to see script timeouts which would cause multiple emails to be sent.. As well as not tie the bulk mailing to board activity?

by Guest .Brian- 0 replies

This is a small suggestion, but I think a small confirmation to delete comments in your profile would be nice. I wanted to see if I could a comment and I did and no confirmation asking if I am sure I want to delete it :( . (Sorry DXL :P )

Hi! I've a problem with users on my board after conversion from phpBB. Everytime i try to login, an error comes out, that ther's no username with that login. MySQL tables seems fine to me, so i don't have any idea what can it be. I've heard that after reminding my password it will work, but in my case, it does't. So please, help me :) best regards

Suggestion: Option to set default font/size/color
by Guest Milt- 6 replies
- 1.4k views
A number of members on my forum have asked about the possibility of having the option to set their own default font/size/color for posting rather than having to change it each time. I would like to suggest that for consideration when you are doing future upgrades. Thanks, Milt

[Suggestion] Hierarchical Editing Permissions As Standard
by Guest AndyF- 5 replies
- 1.6k views
I think hierarchical is the right word... Basically... they shouldnt be able to edit a post from a member "higher" than their own... Only Root Admins should be able to edit their posts (no other groups) Admins can edit Global Mods and Regular Mods posts but cannot edit Root Admins (as Admins are lower than Root Admins) Global mods can edit other Global Mods and Regular Mods Regular Mods cannot edit Global Mods or above (if that makes sense) Root Admin Admin Global Mods Mods Yes i can see problems if peeps start playing with the group settings but thats a modification really... :)

[Suggestion] Deleted Posts deduct from Users Cumulative Count
by Guest ~Dopey~- 20 replies
- 4.2k views
I suggest that when a moderator deletes a post it should deduct [X*] posts from the users 'Post Count' otherwise it's not really deleting it, is it? (it's just hiding it in a sense {depends whether you have 'Trash Can' on/off}) * The amount of posts deleted by that user is to be deducted from said user.

Group Moderators
by Guest Jubei- 11 replies
some board system like phpbb have a feature that I think would be easily implemented into IPB. Group Moderators. the Site Admin(s) can assign regular members to moderate specific groups without needing to give them ACP access or doing it them selves. I think this is a must have for any forum system really.

[Suggestion]Ban multiple e-mails at once
by Guest The Clash- 3 replies
- 1.1k views
We've all suffered from spam attacks, and CAPTCHA is getting weaker and weaker by the day... Forums like TAZ have pages upon pages of lists of e-mails to ban from registrations to prevent spambots. With IPB, we'd have to add these one at a time, which would take a while. Why not create a textarea for inputs, one per line, allowing multiple inputs into the ban filters?

I just wanted to throw out some well deserved kudo's. In todays world of increasing prices for substandard service that has become so prevalent I must say it's rather refreshing to receive not only acceptable, but outstanding service. Since buying IP.Board a couple of months ago I've had to open up three tickets. Not only the professionalism but the quick resolution to each ticket was refreshing. I didn't receive any "I feel your pain, do you need a hug?" or "Please upgrade the latest driver" canned response. What I did receive was a quick reply, identification of the problem with even an offer to fix it for me. Well the answer I received was enough for me to resol…

complaint about use of screen space 1 2
by Guest cheapbooks.com- 26 replies
- 5.1k views
the invision power board is great, however on any given forum page, it seems as though 35% - 40% of the page is used by things that give little value to someone who is looking for the main services of the board - the posts. I am afraid to add subforums because it bumps off the topics, and new visitors are leary about scrolling the page down. inother words, when people visit the site, 35% - 40% of the viewable page never changes from day to day. I believe from my years of experience (been using the web since 1994) that it is poor web design to use up so much space for logos, nav bars, etc, with the content hidden down the page. I haven't even added ad banners to my head…

Some people like relative date, others like exact date, and yet others like both. Above posts (such as this one), there is a nice long bar with either the relative (if this post is new) or exact date (if this post is old). I simply suggest (and yes, I know I can do this with a hack, but I'd rather it be a feature) ... that both the relative AND the exact date be shown above posts. ---- AND also, allow users to select in UserCP which date they prefer: relative or exact - for the rest of the board.

Customer Center Security Concern
by Guest scottydawg- 14 replies
- 4.9k views
I just wanted to point something out as I felt its a security concern within the IPS Customer Center. In the profile area you have a place to put account information to help with the technical support to help with board issues. Passwords are shown in plain text and if your IPS account were to say become compromised anyone would have access to that information to any licenses that you currently own. A suggestion would be to at least mask the passwords to prevent this.

What good is XML-RPC?
by Guest W13- 10 replies

(I'm sure this has been asked before, so excuse me for asking again) I tried the search, but it said no results for "XML-RPC" and "XML-RPC API" has a 3-letter word. So can anybody tell me what good is XML-RPC in IPB? (there's a setting in ACP).

Suggestion: Would it be possible to grab (using javascript) the current time , compare against server-time and timezone, (or just grab the timezone via javascript- if possible) and just GUESS the time-zone? So, add an <option SELECTED> next to the guessed time-zone.

Mass Delete Emoticons?
by Guest friction- 2 replies
- 1.2k views
Is it possible to mass delete all the emoticons in the default folder? I have deleted them all through FTP but they are all stick showing (without images) in the manage emoticon section. I would like to see an option where we can select two or more emoticons at a time and delete them. It's so annoying to delete them one by one and wait for the page to refresh each time.

[Question] Free Invision Power Board
by Guest iAaron- 2 replies
Hello, I have a question to ask you Invision Power Services. Was Invision Power Board ever free? I remmember it being free to the version of 1.3 Final(Invision Power Board 1.3 Final). I would just like to know if that version and below is completely free. Not editing the Script or any of that, just to use. Because I know, after 1.3 Final, it started costing money. I would just like to make sure it is free. Thank you, iAaron(Aaron)
