I'm trying to set up my forum and would like it to show "recent discussions," "recent status updates," "popular contributors," "upcoming events," and "today's birthdays" in the side bar as I've seen on other sites using this software. How do I make it do that?

So I installed 3.4.8 today and was able to do my importing from Xenforo today. I got everything setup and everything looks fine. I then moved the forum to the root and everything is ok. Now here is where I am confused. I went and downloaded the latest 4.0 from my Client area. Now it's basically a zip with another folder inside with numbers. Am I suppose to take all the files inside and over write all the old files? Or how do I exactly upgraded from 3.4.8. to the latest? I have ran the upgrade script and I am good to go, but I am just confused on where to put the files and then start the upgrade. Can anyone explain it a little more clear to me? Thank you!

Okay, I just found out the hard way that there is no way to UN-delete a post. I thought I was deleting a REPORT but apparently I deleted the POST. Uggh. If there any way to recover the post? I'm being accused of censorship and it was an honest mistake.

The default installation, only seems to provide an ugly html page saying the file was not found. But here on this IPS community they show all navigation and a nicer looking error page. How can I create the same on my own IPS community site?

Ever since the upgrade to 4.1.3.2 my forum Email has stopped working. Problem is, most of my members are not able to login for whatever reason now, but one common reason is forgotten passwords. They are not getting the password reset. O host with GoDaddy and did not have any issues until this upgrade. I tried everything I know to get it working, but no dice. Any ideas how to fix this bug? My Email has been down for 3 days now and been waiting on IPB tech for 2 days to respond to my support request.

Already logged a ticket but wondering if anyone has come across this before? where or how can i allow guests to submit support request have checked the application permissions in acp - seems ok url like forum/support gives me The page you are trying to access is not available to guests, but may be available if you sign in. are there permissions settings somewhere or a url that am missing ?

I want to show full size images in forum posts. Currently, images are showing as thumbnails. I have also set the maximum dimensions to display and save to 1000x750 in settings. Also, when inserting attached image in post, editor is not accepting width value greater than 100px.

Hi there, I'm currently trying to get font awesome working within the CKeditor but it's not working. I tried a plugin called "FontAwesomePremium" ( http://ckeditor.com/addon/fontAwesomePremium ) but I'm not able to get in up'n'running. Is here anybody who uses this plugin and could help me with this or can provide another solution for font awesome? Thanks!

1. Uploaded smileys appear as blank on the emoticons ACP page and are placed in a subdirectory below the emoticons directory like this: uploads/emoticons/emoticons I'm not sure if this is caused by permission issues and If I need to adjust it. 2. Emoticons in old posts are just blank.

Hello, Back at 3.4.x moderators could see the reports only from the sections they have moderator powers. Now, moderators from specific areas see ALL reports from ALL sections of the forum. You can only give access to all reports or none in the "AdminCP / Moderators" Since the forum is quite big, moderators keep receiving irrelevant reports that they can't moderate... So... I'm doing something wrong here and there's a config hidden that I didnt see, or they messed up the report system on IPB4 ? Thank you!

A fresh IPS4 setup seems to have a rather large time to first byte. I have a dedi, optimized php and apache setup. 4 cores, plenty of RAM. SSD drives. Zend opcode/memcached etc being tested from a few miles away. Server in London, test from London. The TTFB is ~ 1 second. This is abnormal and normally caused by server spec or DB bottlenecks. Server is good. Invisions own site has the same issue when tested. Other forum software responds in ~300 when tested on same server. Is this something you are aware of and would look into improving?

Had a critical ticket in since 8am UK Sunday. Now 8pm UK Monday. It was escalated and I have to accept those guys are not around Sun (shouldnt someone be around who can deal with critical issues?), anyway its between 12pm and 3pm Mon in the US depending where you are based. I think that one thing I can do to ease member acceptance of the new streams functionality is to make them open up in Compact view the first time a member sees them (they can always flip to the mega-view if they want it). Is there a straightforward way of doing this, or is a mod required?

Hey, everyone. What I'm attempting to do is create a new input field for when creating a new topic. For example, users would have the ability to input something like a description that would be saved to that post. So far I've added the new column to the post sql table, but I'm a bit confused on how and where IPB saves all the fields when clicking 'submit topic'. If anyone could share their wisdom on how I'd go about adding a new field when creating a topic, I'd be incredibly grateful. Thank you in advance!

Can it really be true that you can't have the forum name in Friendly URLs for a topic? If I look at the friendly structure for a forum topic it looks like this: forum/topic/{#id}-{?} But to maintain my existing structure (moving from VB) and to have a logical semantic url structure it should be: forum/forum-name/topic/{#id}-{?} Please tell me that its possible to have forum name in topic url? If not how do a redirect existing vbulletin vbseo urls to the new ones in IPC?
