How can I get to the users custom profile fields from this: $comment->author()-> I want to check the value of a specific field ID to display something. I tried doing it in the customFieldsDisplay template, but the value there comes with some html... not just the text of the field.

Hi, I want to hide all internal links which are pointing to user profile pages (only for guests). Is there any way to do that with a Hook that is hookable before the HTML output is generated? In that case, I would just regex&delete the profile page ahref for Guests only. I guess, that would save me a lot of template editing. Thanks.

Is there anything that would prevent a admin from adjusting permissions on different user groups? So I can change anything I want below let say in the signature setting and click SAVE button. Come back to the very same page and nothing is changed. Did I miss something here?

I'll try and keep it simple. This post is mostly for @Ryan Ashbrook, but other IPS staff should be aware - @Lindy, etc : The old IPB 3.X converters had redirect scripts that would forward old vBulletin, etc. links to the new Invision URLs. This is VERY good for SEO and good for users still being able to find old content via old links! These redirect scripts break when updating to IPS4 - they return an error about "Invalid IPB Path" - I wouldn't expect them to work, since IPS4 is a rewrite Nevertheless, this means TONS of links will be broken for those who converted to IPB3 from large forums and then upgraded to IPS4... and right now there's no solu…

I'm in the process of upgrading to 4.1.5.2, but this query is taking forever (going on an hour, and my site's been down this whole time). I know table alter commands tend to take a while, and I do have 3.7m rows, but I'm a little concerned. Has anyone else run into the same thing?

I am using IP Content extensively, and one out of many uses is for car classifieds for 20 car brands. As our classifieds is gaining traction, it's time to add the sub category for car models inside each of the 20 car brands. I like the small triangle on left to toggle sub categories, but wondering if there is a way to technically make it appear in minimize format by default and user can expand whatever category they want to dig-in in below two places: On the right category nav While adding new content

Hi all, This has been on my mind for ages and i've asked IPS but they said to check with the community. Is there a Bug Tracker for IPS4? It was such an awesome application but now we're on IPS4, there doesn't seem to be much progress with applications/hooks compared to IPS2/IPS3. I've heard you can make one for IP Content but we don't have it at the moment, need to renew it! But even so, I don't have time to create it myself. Many thanks

Updated to 4.1.3.2 and the editor works, but several of the icons are incorrect. My smiley icon opens Code, my Link icon opens Emoticons, The Gear icon (no idea what it's supposed to be) opens Links. I tried resetting it in the ACP. How can I fix this? Thanks

Hi everyone, So I upgraded the forum today and everything seems to be excellent however I am having difficulties trying to add/edit an announcement or signature, for example when posting an announcement I am not given the option to actually "write" my announcement, as you can view on the image below it only gives me the option to upload an image. Before in IPB 3.x version, users were not able to post thread/post if they add any Disallowed URLs example: any competitor sites etc. In IPB 4.x user are able to post and url showing only it is not clickable. Anyone can copy url and visit site. This system must be stop user to post Disallowed URL Just like previous sytem, where user were getting messgage "you are not allowed to post this url"

Hi there. Could somebody please explain to me what the Email Error Logs inside the ACP are supposed to be doing? Or more specifically, I thought if someone registered using an invalid email address, the error logs would let me know. (I do actually already understand that I could set my board such that new members are required to validate their email addresses before doing anything else, but I have another reason I'd be interested in deleting registrations with invalid emails before they'd be auto-deleted that's probably too long and uninteresting for this post.) If I create a database, then allow records to be saved in Categories, how do I always 'show records like articles' in the individual Category. Example www.canadaisplaying.com 1. Click on TESTME in the navbar 2. See the list of articles mixed up by category ordered by publication date. Perfect! 3. Click on a Category in sidebar... now it looks like a forum. 4. How can you keep the same format so the category is displayed as 'show records like articles' It's kind of a 'discontinuity' so to speak. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks JM

Is there a way to disable others from leaving a message on another members feed? I want members to be able to change their status AND allow others to comment on that status, but I don't want members to be able to post directly onto another members feed. I think that there is confusion and they think that they are sending a PM when in reality are posting to their feed and that post is being displayed on the main page because I have the widget enabled.

Protect Group from Flag as Spammer?

Is there an option to protect a Group from the Flag as Spammer option? Rather than simply hiding content, I want to set the Flag as Spammer tool to delete all content. However, to guard against irreversible mistakes I'd like an option within each Group's settings to 'protect' that group from having the tool used on them. An alternative option would be to have a setting whereby the tool can only be used if a member has less than X posts. Is this possible?

After doing a test it appears our 'guests' are receiving notifications still. Any way to control that? Few questions: - Any way to control or disable guest notifications? - Does guest get a full copy of the post or just a link to it? I received a link but I had an email forwarded to me that was a full post and I'm not totally sure if they were an active member when that was sent or not. - If a member was following (via email notification option) a forum area that they had paid extra to get access too. Not sure what the issue is but I received the following error during the upgrade - otherwise things seem to have gone smoothly. We'll see just how well although no other errors. Pretty impressed how quick and seamless it was... at least during the upgrade.
