14 Screenshots

This app scans the database to detect members who have rmultiple accounts at your forum, and it will list the results.

The detection method is being done in 4 ways.

1) Registration Method

  • This method is based on scanning the members table for members who have registered more than one account at your forum from the same ip. The ip address in question will be displayed with the latest multiple account. When the ip address is clicked upon, it will display all the other aliases of that member.

2) Posting Method

  • This method is based on scanning the posts table for members who have posted from more than one account at your forum from the same ip. The ip address in question will be displayed with the latest multiple account. When the ip address is clicked upon, it will display all the other aliases of that member as well as the posts and topics that they have posted.

3) Ip Login Method

  • This method is based on scanning members known ip addresses, i.e. their last used ips, during the login and if a member has logged in to different accounts from the same ip, the action will be logged and displayed.

4) Device Detection Method

  • This is the most accurate method imo. Ipb adds a unique cookie to members devices when they log in to the forum. The cookie exparation date is set to one year and its unique string is associated with the users device and stored in the device table.  This means if someone logs in to your forum, logs out and then logs in using another account and a different ip address, then it can tell that it was the same person. It means that person has to use same machine, same browser irrespective of the ip address he/she is using.

Search

  • All 4 multiple accounts detection methods have a quick search option where you can search the resuts based on members names.

Mod CP

  • All 4 detection methods will be available at the Mod Cp area as well. This is group permission based. The Ip Login&Device methods can be enabled/disabled individually. You can exclude a member or members from showing up in these logs. This is if you do not want your staff members to have access to those particular logs.

Automated Multiple Registrations Topics

  • Whenever someone registers more than once account using the same ip address, an automated topic will be posted at a forum of your choice listing all the previous accounts of that member.

Ip Registrations Limit

  • And last, but not least, this app adds an option to limit the number of registrations from the same ip and from members last used ip  addresses.

Works as described. Finds duplicate/multiple accounts of users and aggregates all of them in one easy to use and figure out table. absolute no-brainer purchase.

was a bit fiddly to work with in the initial release, but is way better now, especially after adding a search function and extra features, and changing the display layout (it can now work perfectly well for big communities as well).
PERFECT for small-medium or young communities with a fairly small amount of possible duplicates or not very many members. larger/older (I'd say ~100K/10yr +) communities with can have a slight overload of information displayed or need a few minutes of digging around to figure out what's what.

The developer is super responsive and always answers PMs (even if the answer is 'no', which is commendable) and constantly works to add features and iron out issues.

It’s a perfect addon. It would be even better if it had a time limit for ip detection. If its an old forum you will need a time limit function not to match an ip 10 years old post. But other detection method works perfectly.

This plugin is useless. I own a forum that is 12 years old, has a userbase of 600k with millions of database records - whenever I run the plugin, my server gets completely overloaded when checking the database for multi-accounts based on the devices they have used.

I have described the issue to the plugin's author and proposed that an option which would filter the users using a date range be added so the amount of queries isn't as large, but was told that such functionality could be added for a fee of 15$ exclusively for me.

TLDR; if your forum is big and has a large database you better have it running on a NASA server because the app is borderline unoptimised and therefore unusable.

[EDIT] REPLY: A sane person would expect the plugin to work properly and be optimised when you charge money for it, not something you should use to charge more money from a customer. I have only proposed a solution and the implementation is entirely up to you.

Response from the author:

Hello,

When I asked for you to provide me with the login credentials so I could check out your claim for myself, you did not want to.  That is fine, but without taking a look for myself directly where the issue is supposedly happening, I am afraid that I can not be of much help.

Next you want to customise the app by adding extra features just only for you, features that are outside the item that you purchased. And yes, it is normal that extra work will cost extra.

Essential app.
But unfortunately, it doesn't work at all for me.
The app fails, again and again, to recognize duplicate users in my forum, showing unrelated users in the search result.

I stop using it, as it is unreliable anymore for me.

Regardless, I think the app should be integrated into the user approval section, as a button chacking all the data before the admin manual/automated approval.

Response from the author:

Hello,

Can you please tell me what part of the app is not working for you? The app is very accurate in detecting multiple accounts based on posts and devices.

You can make a post at the app 's support topic about it and we can carry on the discussion there.
