Originally created to extend functionality provided by @newbie LAC's existing (NB40) Separate Pinned Topics plugin, the plugin has now been converted to an application which now incorporates similar functionality to Newbies plugin. The requirement to have already purchased that plugin no longer exists.

What does this application do?

  • Provides ability to clearly separate pinned topics from non-pinned topics.
  • Provides functionality which collapse the pinned topics section on page load
  • Admin has the ability to
    • ensure that 'Featured' and 'Unread' pinned topics are always displayed.
    • control the transition effect (hide/show or fadein/fadeout) and speed (slow or fast) at which the expand/collapse effect takes place
  • User can click on the 'Pinned Topics' header to expand/collapse the listing of topics.
  • CSS is provided to allow you to style the appearance of the separation sections

Note:

  • This application has been developed with the IPS default theme in mind, and has not been tested on any other themes.
  • If you are using a theme which has made changes to the html upon which this plugin acts, and it fails to work as a result, then please post in the Support Topic and provide a link to your site for review.

This does exactly what it says it will do - we have a LOT of pinned topics on our site for new members, and long-time members get frustrated having to scroll through them all.  This allows them to collapse the pinned topics, while still allowing us to have pinned topics show up if there are new posts (or new topics).  Brilliant solution to a problem.  Thanks!

Response from the author:

Thanks!!

And yes...you do have a lot of pinned topics

App didn't work. Seems modder claims to have fixed it and has pushed an update -we will see. However, don't make the mistake of contacting the author via PM. You'll be met with a rude response that they don't offer support by PM, and they'll promptly leave the conversation before you get a chance to explain that you were just being courteous by contacting them via PM with what I considered could have been another issue. There's a toxic culture developing here at Invision.

Works perfectly fine - you just had a previously unneeded use-case.

Everyone is free to read my response, seeing as it was not sent via PM:

Think I am done on here now, it's not worth the hassle of people not bothering using the support details provided - best of luck all, no more new things from me. Bug fixes only for the foreseeable future.
