Report Member Profiles by @Fosters allows users to report other users directly from the profile.

When users visit a profile, they will see a "Report Member" button.  Users are required to submit a brief explanation.  This sends a report to the Moderator Control Panel (ModCP), where moderators can then view or filter reports in a new "Reported Members" section.  Like other reports, moderators can mark the report as New, Under Review, or Complete.

This plugin is fundamentally broken:

The developer promised he'd fix it on September 19th-20th and it'd take 2-3 days... 2-3 months later the developer has vanished (Although replying to other places) with no sign of the fixes for this plugin.

Not impressed.

Edit: In response to @Fosters response;

I've edited this again because the first time was unnecessarily hostile. This application doesn't work properly as I have outlined in the topic. I am happy to edit/remove my review and re-review it again if you sort out the main issue I have with this plugin. I have marked in red my problem:

Okay, yes. There is a different section in the Moderator Control Panel, and all the moderators can see it; and that all works and such... But there are some pretty major problems with this application:

  • I expected everything to appear in the report centre, not have a completely new clone of the report centre made up just for it. This, right now, is rather inefficient and a pointless waste of space & time.
  • None of the moderators can even use the report profile function; they only see the report profile button in their profiles, it doesn't appear in anyone else's. I believe this is true for all the members too. So it rather defeats the purpose if all anyone can do is report their own profiles.
    • There are no moderator permissions that I could see in the ACP, that would pertain to this at all.
  • Bad Templates... IPS Focus themes don't want to display this properly, but yet everything else works fine in IPS Focus themes, this means it's not using a standard IPS coding, because if it was it'd be working in IPS Focus themes:
    • The button in the profile is a strange colour in (Screenshot Attached)
    • The ModCP section is not properly coded either, as a result there is white text against a white background (Screenshot Attached)

I am not very happy with this application at all. As it stands it is completely broken, if no one can even report anyone but themselves thus this app cannot by definition serve its purpose. Please fix this, @Fosters. I am happy to help out in anyway I can with testing and what have you, but this has to be fixed. 🙂

Thanks, I see the issue with the button, a new version will be released later today.

Unfortunately member reports can't be placed into the IPS Report center because they're not content item and it would be really really very tricky and hacky to try to make them appear as content item just to be able to place them into the default center.

I think I've found a way to move them to the default IPS report center, so the yesterdays release is delayed for 2,3 days

Then you went completely silent:

That's wonderful news; as I said Fosters if you want me to test this out for you, I am more than happy to do so.

@Fosters Has there been any update to this?

You said you'd fix the problems relating to the colour of the button -fantastic- but completely glossed over the fact that I was having problems where it related to the fact that people can only seem to report their own profiles.

A little while later you said that you found a way of merging it into the report centre and you needed an extra few days. I was ecstatic about this, but if it caused problems and you couldn't do it then you should have at least told me the numerous times I asked for an update. You didn't, and if you couldn't do it, I would have understood. However what makes this application not fit for purpose is the second point I raised in the original post. The fact of the matter is- on my site, and on a fresh install that I tested this application on, the button only appears for staff on their own profiles. It doesn't appear for anyone else on anyone elses profiles. Therefore plugin is broken.

I hope that answers your question.

Response from the author:

What exactly is broken here? It’s working, people can report members and moderators are able to see the reports in an own section.

Also nothing was promised, I’ve said that I’ll take a look, I‘ve said i think Ive found a way, but it didn’t work as expected.
