Great app!

I would also like you to have integration with reactions:

- Reactions Integration - Members can earn, or lose, points based on reactions from other members.

I am running a community, and so far, this plugin has been so helpful and amazing, especially the integration with Commerce :D !

In other words 10/10 and totally recommended for gaming communities!

Best regards

Out of all the point systems in the market this is the only one that has integration with commerce (at the time of writing the review). All admins who want to reward their members with real benefits will appreciate this.

Please keep in mind that the app offers a very solid foundation, but it is up to you to customize it via the Rules application. If you need a standalone points app, you should probably buy some of the other apps on the marketplace. They will have some turnkey options to award points to your members. But if you require full flexibility to fine tune the point system on your community this app in combination with Rules is simply without alternative.

I would recommend this to any user that runs a gaming community. It has become an integral part of my community.

This is a great idea behind the application, full-featured and customizable. But it has a problem with tasks that lasts for a long time and has not been fixed yet, and it's crashing some boards around these parts.

That app with the rules app makes managing point currency a breeze. The commerce integration was also necessary for me and it works great. Good job!

Points economy is your entry level monetary system for IPS4 sites. The advantage here, is that you don't need to go all out and purchase another member store, such as Members Shop by TheJackal84 for example.

After reviewing and testing the points application by Kevin Karwile, here's what I've found.

1. Does this app work as advertised? Yes it does. However:

1.1. Don't expect there to be a way to setup automatic points transfers. The app is missing key core functionality that lets you earn points by posting. Admins must regularly manually give points to users, as there is no way to setup points integration with existing site apps like Forums or Clubs.

1.2. There's no way to turn certain features off with the app. So say for example, if you were going to not wish to charge for interest, you still need to choose a rate, rather than enable or disable that feature entirely.

1.3. Rules Integration. This feature is rather redundant because the one thing you'd want to use Rules integration for, is automatically crediting or debiting points when a user completes an action. The rules app on IPS itself has been blacklisted, but even after I obtained a copy of it, purchased and all, rules has trouble recording events to the saved actions log, such as when a member views a topic or blog or other content item. So don't expect rules to solve automatic points integration because it can't conditionally or actually define an API event call peramater to carry out certaina ctions. Now if you were creating a piece of content or removing it, as that is a static event, you may ahve beter success with that. However you'll need to download the lite version of the rules app just to use that feature.

1.4. Reputations and likes integration. Again, no way to make this possible with points economy. If you wish to have your community setup so that when a member reacts to your post, a certain amount of points is awarded, you'll be disappointed. The only additional settings you'll see in this app are in user group permissions under payment gateways through the store, and even that's hidden by default. As in you won't know it's there until you find that settings page again and review existing preferences.

1.5. Store integration. Yes, it works. But this feature is redundant if you can't purchase points directly. This is useful for communities who cannot use Pay Pal, Stripe or other payment methods for some reason, manual included. Therefore, don't expect account credits to be compatible with points, because you can't export and import account credit from other payment methods to points or vice versa yet. When I say account credit, I mean account funds from the store, where you can add dollars to your account to buy things with. If you are having trouble with other payment methods, I would not recommend setting up points integration until you're able to have all members be able to create or generate their own points to use as a viable payment method before hand.

2. So what does this app actually do? Well, points at this point is an unknown quantity. It:

2.1. Has no way of displaying to others how many you have.

2.2. Has no way of being useful apart from a tab not even installed by default in the menu manager.

2.3. Has bank integration but only with points economy, with no settings for individual bank types. So if you wanted to have points automatically be transferred from one bank to another based on different content types creation you can't do that.

2.4. Gives you an overview of how many you have. there's no way to review points activity yet or be able to manage them on your own or transfer them to other members.

3. Improvements to this app. Honestly, it's a nice idea. And basically, at this point, points can't make you any money. So don't think that because:

3.1. You have points installed, that it will:

3.1.1. Let you define or convert cash to points, or vice versa.

3.1.2. Allow you to self manage on account settings basis, points you do possess.

3.2. Admins can't earn affiliate points by members participation from a commission basis. If you want to set this up, it will need to be done through the store app and even then, it's limited to certain products and paid files.

3.3. You can't use points to control whether a member qualifies for a specific product or not. A good use case for this need would be, you need 50 points in your account to be able to access a forum category for donating members.

3.4. Awards, or lack there of. Points is not an awards system and cannot be used for uploading your own image or rank to give badges to members who have accumulated site wealth.

4. How can points benefit me? Well at the time of this writing, I would say points is:

4.1. A work in progress. It works, if you stay on top of who can use points to purchase items. And by that I mean manually crediting points to certain members individually. As doing so on a group basis isn't possible yet.

4.2. It works as a sub tab container if you want to put additional store items in the main menu. Its affiliation even if it doesn't perform all that well with the store, allows you to use it s a placeholder for actual credit. You will need to be an expert at managing your own fiat payment gateway, before the store can make you any money though.

5. Overall value. I rated this app currently 3/5 stars because its intentions are clear and was the reason why I placed some money aside to check it out. I have high hopes for this ap, yet its functional best practices needs a ton of work for me to rely on it as a system.

Looking awesome and worked flawless.

I do hope we can add a balance to a group in the future as well, that be awesome.

Making restfull api availble with this would be nice addition

No complains, does what it promises and comes from a developer that made 2 other amazing additions to IPS.

I like how you broke old versions of this before putting a price tag on it.

Great app! Especially with the addition of rules. I do have 2 feature requests though:

1) Ability to group currencies so that the user doesn't see a huge list.

2) Ability to add icons to each currency with some description page.

This is so awesome, but I don't want ppl to know now much cash other ppl have and it shows in their member card. Someone with alot of points becomes awkward and a hack target. Maybe there's a way to disable that and I missed it?

This application is one of the best installed on my community! Together with the Automation Rules it provides a wide range of possibilities which are limited by my creativity only :)

When having enough points, my users are allowed to change their nicknames, titles, userlinks, group names, to add a more functional secondary group, and even remove their warning points and penalty groups. Lots of possibilities to spend points require users to earn them, which brings to the community's life more fun and interest!

The tight integration with Rules is the most important reason to choose the Points Economy. It's worth to have it for sure. No one will regret :)

I have been using the point economy on my community for sometime now. Its very stable and with its integration in the Commerce it allows you to reward members easily by selling things for points rewarded for posting.
