This application will allow users to sign into your forum through the steam open id authentication system. Existing users can link their steam accounts in the members control panel.

Additional Features:

  • Syncing of a users profile picture from their steam account
  • Registration will pull in a users username from their Display Name in steam.

If you want a deeper integration with Steam, I suggest you checkout @Aiwa's Steam Profile Integration.

This project is open source, you can find the GitHub repository here.

  • Invision Community Suite 4.3+ Compatible Login Method.

Works well, no issues so far on

Had some trouble understanding the installation paths at first but got it working in the end.

I like that the login image matches the rest of the SSO ones :)

Big thanks for this!

Great plugin.

I got a new app coming around the corner that recommends the use of this to get more features out of my app.

PS - Tested and working on IPS4.1 Beta 1

Excellent!  I added a permissions check to file downloads to check if the user has purchased an App, DLC, or Workshop/inventory item here:

The only thing that would make me give this 5 stars is if this plugin/addon added a link to the forum profile linking their Steam Account so people could click it and see it!!!  Otherwise, so far, I love this addon!

Would be great if you uploaded it as an actual plugin / application. The majority of users seem to use the cloud based hosting, where they don't allow us to have FTP access. Do you have plans to ever make it compatible?

Response from the author:

As of 3.0.0, due to architectural changes to the way the software manages login methods in 4.3, this is now packaged as an application!

I had no issues installing. Some of the wording of the "walkthrough" was different than represented on my site. But, no issues. A couple things that would have gotten a 5th star from me:

1. Create a better walkthrough guide. Most of the plugins and applications I've looked at provide an html file or something more visually stimulating. Easier to follow. This one is an ".md" file which I opened in Notepad to get one continuous wall of text (one single line). Not easy to track.

2. Edit the content to reflect new wording on the IPS and coincide a little better with how it is currently represented.

Now, I liked the plugin and will be using it. I am however a bit concerned that it wasn't updated in almost a year. I'll be more than irritated if for some reason IPB releases an update that breaks the plugin and there's no update to fix it. I hope that's not the case. ;)

Awesome plugin, does what it says. My community loves it, ties into a lot of our services easily. Keep up the good work!

This plugin is absolutely awesome. What bugs me a little is that it throws an uncatched error from time to time. With uncatched I mean the page throws an error for the user "Something went wrong", but the logs do not contain anything for this error.

Several users already mentioned the problem to the dev on github, but there is no fix as of now. Neither is any information if somebody works on this problem or what might cause the problem (several months now).

If users get this error they have to try several times until it works, not that good for communities, when users are unable to log in / register.

Back to 5 Stars when this problem is fixed.

Response from the author:

3.0.0 should resolve a few of these issues + it is also more verbose with it's error messages so it's clearer about what's going on.
